About Us

Big Brother's over...

... for another year, much to the relief of our exhausted team of writers, transcribers and moderators.

This year's coverage over on DS:BB broke records once again, with almost 200 million impressions logged over the course of the series. We also set a new daily best of 3 million impressions on May 30 (someone update the Wikipedia, please!). Thanks for clicking our way this summer and do send us your feedback on what you would like to see from the BB site in future.

And although BB is over for this year - would you believe we're already planning for next year's series? - we're rocking straight on with some super duper live coverage.

All this week we're live in Edinburgh, bringing you full coverage of the Edinburgh Film Festival and then, later in the week, in-depth reports from the Edinburgh TV Festival (check out this week's Tube Talk on Thursday for details of how you can be filmed by us). Over the Bank Holiday weekend we're also live with Ant & Dec at the Celtic Manor for the All Star Cup.

Once September rolls around you'll begin to see some big changes to our content lineup. In short, more of it. As I mentioned in the last entry, we've recruited several new full-time editorial positions and over the coming months you will be able to see the fruits of their labour. Any thoughts on the sorts of things you would like to read on DS - or on what could be improved upon - are always welcomed to the contact page.

One final tease for this entry - how would you like to take a sip from us? Soon you'll be able to.

More soon!

Another comment on Big Brother. I think that the treatment of Shilpa Shetty has been unacceptable and could be interpreted as racist. But what this illustrates is that "BB" is deliberately designed to create stress and conflict amongst its inmates, and above all raise the BB profile. The show has now crossed a line.

To tell you the truth, I have never been a big fan of big brother and honestly I probably still am not. What has attracted me to follow the current series is that Shilpa Shetty is now a guest and as an Indian who knows of her stature as a bollywood actress I felt a certain pride that she was involved only to find that she was used as a target for racist abuse. I understand that the motives behind this abuse are purely those of jealousy. Shilpa Shetty is miles ahead in celebrity status in comparison to all other tenants, her beauty makes her unique and her intelligence and upbringing are to be revered. Channel 4’s hesitation on doing something to resolve the issue only leads us to admire Shilpa’s determination to stand up to adversity with real dignity. It is disappointing and worrying that to this date there is still such a high number of xenophobics amongst the lower classes of this country. It is honestly shameful.
