About Us

Meet the Digital Spy Team

It takes a lot of monkeys to keep this machine turning, you know. Read on to find out more about the people that bring DS to your screens.

Management Team

David Moynihan
David Moynihan
Editor

David manages the editorial team to bring 12 million monthly users over 200 news stories every day. Career highlights so far include interviewing Charlize Theron and being presented an award by Ronnie Corbett, whose fingers were the size of raisins.

Staff - No Profile Picture
James Welsh
Co-founder and Digital Technology Director

James formulates Digital Spy's overall strategy and manages the business from the New York office. The last remaining DS original, James loves geekery in all its varied forms. His favourite TV shows include 30 Rock and Glee.

Section Editors

Daniel Kilkelly
Soaps Editor

Daniel is responsible for editing the soaps section on DS, which includes writing news articles, compiling spoilers, liaising with press offices and conducting interviews. He also writes the Soap Scoop blog. He loves all the soapland universes but, if forced to choose, his heart belongs to Neighbours.

Simon Reynolds
Movies Editor

Simon joined DS in February 2008. As the movies editor, he can often be found attending screenings at the cinemas of WC2 or stalking celebrities at rainy premieres in Leicester Square. His fave films are Back To The Future, Being There and Dead Man's Shoes.

Alex Fletcher
TV Editor

Alex joined DS as a Big Brother reporter in May 2007, before joining the team full-time as a general entertainment reporter. However, in doing so he was essentially living a lie, hiding his true desire: to report solely on the highbrow topic of reality TV. This was rectified in 2009 as he ascended to the new post of Reality TV editor. In 2011, Alex became the site's TV editor. He's also responsible for the controversial DS Icons section.

Lara Martin
News Editor on digitalspy.com

Lara joined DS as an entertainment reporter in December 2008, after previously working at ITV and BBC. The following year she was promoted to the new post of news editor on Digital Spy's US site at digitalspy.com. There she oversees the newsflow, manages the team of US-based reporters and covers a preposterous number of reality series. Her favourite TV show is Supernatural, she has an unhealthy addiction to Diet Coke and she can often be found trying to insert the words "Bachelor" and "Gosselin" into a headline.

Matthew Reynolds
Gaming Editor

Matthew produces content for the gaming section, manages the Level Up blog and attends various gaming events. His favourite game of all time is Metal Gear Solid, and he longingly awaits for Shenmue to make a comeback. He's an athletic chap and ran the 2010 London Marathon in support of Save the Rhino.

Mayer Nissim
Senior Entertainment Reporter

Mayer joined DS in January 2009 as a Big Brother reporter before becoming an entertainment reporter later that month. He spends his days writing news, reviews and interviews, as well as faffing about with spreadsheets he pretends to understand. He also does a spot of sub-editing when nagged. In his free time, he listens to pop music from the '50s-'10s.

Robert Copsey
Music Editor

Rob joined the team in March 2010 and produces music news, interviews and reviews. In August 2011, he became the site's new music editor. At 6'4", he is by far the tallest member of the DS team. His favourite female artist is Michelle Branch and he also enjoys Cougar Town.

Ryan Love
Showbiz Editor

Ryan popped his employment cherry with his appointment as a general entertainment reporter at DS. In October 2011, he was promoted to Showbiz Editor and relocated from rural Northern Ireland to London. His main vices are a love of Harry Potter, Leona Lewis and his all-consuming adoration of Twitter.

Sub-Editors

Adam Silverstein
Chief Sub-Editor

Adam joined DS in April 2009 as a news sub-editor before his ascent to his current position in February 2011. He subs copy and keeps the site operational from the office. A huge fan of indie rock, his fave bands include Coldplay and Death Cab for Cutie. He also thinks Seinfeld is the greatest TV show ever made.

Beth Hilton
News Sub-Editor

Beth joined DS from the Press Association in June 2007 as a Big Brother reporter and now works as a news sub-editor, editing and approving news stories during the daytime on weekdays. Her fave films are Jaws, Field of Dreams and anything horror-related.

Amy Bell
News Sub-Editor

Amy joined the DS team in February 2009 as a news sub-editor, working weekend evenings. When she grows up, she wants to be like the grumbling, gambling, gossiping, gin-drinking legend that is was Blanche from Corrie.

Christian Tobin
News Sub-Editor

Christian lives in London with two kittens. His proudest moment was a starring role in St. Trinian's 2 as Audience Member #139 and if he could bring back any TV show it would be Channel 5's criminally underloved The Mole. He says the best thing about working for DS is that he can keep tabs on Kyle Sandilands - who's less of a hero, more of a spiritual leader.

Kate Goodacre
News Sub-Editor

Kate joined DS in February 2011 and is the site's Northern night owl, frequently subbing copy to the strains of Pages From Ceefax. She is a closet petrolhead, and only misses a Formula 1 race through illness or being on holiday. Kate controversially prefers Strictly Come Dancing to The X Factor, and would move heaven and earth to see Radiohead or Elbow play live. Her all-time favourite films are Good Night, and Good Luck and Withnail and I.

Liam O'Brien
News Sub-Editor

Liam came to DS Towers as a weekend sub in January 2011, having decided it was time to channel energies formerly spent tweeting journalists about their grammatical errors into something a bit more useful. He spends his spare time engaged in the happy, whimsical worlds of Italian neorealist cinema and Dostoevsky.

Staff Reporters

Catriona Wightman
TV Reporter

Catriona has been with DS since June 2008, working variously as a Big Brother reporter and general entertainment reporter at weekends. From April 2010 she joined the full-time team in the office as a TV reporter. She lists Glee among her favourite shows.

Morgan Jeffery
TV Reporter

Morgan joined DS in June 2010 and has been writing about all things telly (with a particular focus on the cult and sci-fi stuff) ever since. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to indie music and repeatedly watching James Bond films.

Lewis Corner
Lewis Corner
Music Reporter

Lewis joined the team in February 2011, tasked with covering as much music as he can. His favourite music artists range from The All-American Rejects and Hurts to Leona Lewis and Lady GaGa. He's also a huge Jurassic Park fan and rates it as his all-time top movie.

Ben Lee
Ben Lee
Editorial Assistant

Ben joined DS in November 2010 to take care of the little things everyone else is too lazy to do, though nowadays he also manages the Odd section. He adores the Friday Night Lights television series and obsesses over (the careers of) Emma Stone and Timothy Olyphant.

Technical

Staff - Paul Jones
Paul Jones
Lead Platform Engineer

Paul develops the Digital Spy software platform across the main website and the backend content management system. He gets very excited about new technologies. One of his main aims is ensuring everything on the site is cached to make pages load faster. One of his favourite games is Civilization IV and his ambition is to become a DS reporter.

Jason Margolin
Jason Margolin
Platform Engineer

Jason joined DS in January 2011 to help maintain and improve the website, as well as build new features. When he's not watching his beloved Chelsea football club or trying to get on stage and perform in theatres, he likes to spend his time reading a good book or perusing Twitter.

Production

Staff - Chris Allen
Chris Allen
Multimedia Production Manager

Chris joined DS in May 2008 and is responsible for image and video editing, as well as management of the editorial production team. He is either found hunched over Photoshop, Final Cut and Firefox; or wielding a camera and getting very cold at assorted premieres and press launches. A trained actor, Chris will one day play the eleventh twelfth Doctor.

Staff - Tom Mansell
Tom Mansell
Multimedia Producer

Tom joined the team in May 2009 to help with the ever-growing editorial production workload at DS. A film enthusiast, he is most at home shooting videos for the site and his fave film is Blade Runner. One of the most laid-back people in the office, the ONLY thing Tom worries about is how his hair looks.

Staff - No Profile Picture
Naomi Gordon
Picture Assistant

Naomi joined the Digital Spy offices in late August 2011, responsible for the production of images as well as posting photo galleries. She's also grown rather fond of this cute phalanger.

Kez Hay
Kez Hay
Production Assistant

Kez joined the production team in mid-2010 and has worked out of office from Bristol ever since, handling evening production work after the office-based staff have scarpered. He's currently studying for a Masters degree in Audio Engineering, and hopes to one day combine his collective multimedia knowledge to take over the internet.

Donna Cini
Donna Cini
Production Assistant

Donna became a member of the production team in July 2011. Trained in acting, she harbours an ambition to work as an actress - in a perfect world as a long-lost Slater sister on EastEnders - while she has a strangely eclectic mix of tastes and hobbies that includes British drama, Glee, musical theatre, following her much beloved Spurs and eating cupcakes in Soho.

General reporters

Nick Levine
Freelance Contributor

After four fruitful years at DS, Nick stepped down from his post as music editor in March 2011. He now looks after the often-diverting and occasionally-classy Gay Spy blog in a freelance capacity. It would take too long to list his favourite music here, but suffice it to say he'd choose Madonna over Bob Dylan any day.

Rebecca Davies
Entertainment Reporter

Having relocated from London to sunny Australia three years ago, Rebecca is responsible for keeping us updated on all things showbiz Down Under. When she's not writing for DS, she spends her time feasting on Tim Tams and Vegemite, watching Home and Away and hanging out with kangaroos.

Daniel Sperling
Entertainment Reporter

Daniel joined DS in June 2010 as a Big Brother reporter, during which time he developed an inexplicable aversion to moaning Australians. He now works as a weekend entertainment reporter and is also responsible for updating the UK music charts. He speaks almost entirely in Friends quotes.

Paul Millar
Entertainment Reporter

Paul joined the team in December 2009 as a general entertainment reporter. Having spent a summer holidaying at DS HQ, he ascended to a more TV-based role from July 2010 aimed specifically at ratings, soap spoilers and reality TV recaps. Paul's number one celebrity crush is currently Stephen Mulhern.

Colin Daniels
Entertainment Reporter

Colin joined the team in June 2010 as a weekend entertainment reporter. He is currently studying at university and hopes to become the next Louis Theroux (or Sarah Beeny!). His favourite TV show is Dexter and when he isn't writing for DS, he can be found attending gigs and watching Quentin Tarantino movies.

Tom Eames
Tom Eames
Entertainment Reporter

Tom joined Digital Spy in summer 2010 as a reporter for the last series of Big Brother and its 'Ultimate' spinoff. After eventually getting over its demise, he moved on to general entertainment news. He is also a radio producer and podcaster, and is obsessed with music and chart facts. He has random diverse loves for Red Dwarf, Lost, Gary Numan, Robbie Williams and Back to the Future.

Sophie Hines
Entertainment Reporter

Sophie joined the team in February 2011 as an entertainment reporter. Her claims to fame include selling Bill Nighy a teddy bear and nearly being run over by Dizzee Rascal. She's also a pro at spotting former Apprentice candidates on the tube.

Ben Rawson-Jones
Movies Contributor

Ben is a freelance writer who joined DS in September 2006 and works on the Cult and Movies sections, providing news, reviews and interviews. He worships Twin Peaks, adores Depeche Mode and Duran Duran, and his fave films are Blade Runner, Mulholland Drive and Vertigo.

Stella Papamichael
Movies Contributor

Hugh Armitage
Movies / Comics Reporter

Hugh joined DS in June 2009, having previously been a staff writer for Gay Times magazine. He rises at cock crow each morning to furnish the world with comics and movies news and interviews, and falls slightly further in love with Grant Morrison every day.

Andrew Laughlin
Technology Reporter

Andrew's work can be found mostly in the media area of the site, where he covers everything from licence fee debate to Sky lineup changes and ratings reports. He also writes reviews, news and features for the gaming section. His favourite games are Half Life 2 and Resident Evil 4.

Liam Martin
Gaming Reporter

Liam provides gaming news, reviews, features as well as the weekly game charts. He is a freelance journalist and has written for a number of other sites on a variety of subjects and has also worked in local and sports radio. Liam's favourite gaming memories involve shunning the sunshine in favour of epic sessions with his Megadrive.

Mark Langshaw
Gaming / Comics Reporter

Mark contributes gaming news, reviews and features on a regular basis, as well as helping with the Comics section. Prior to this he was a music journalist, covering classical music and performing arts for Muso magazine and International Arts Manager. His favourite game is Super Mario World on the SNES and his fave console is the PS2.

Zakia Uddin
Bollywood Reporter

Zakia Uddin joined the DS team in May 2010. When not writing, she loves noise gigs, making cakes, running a book club, googling the antics of minor celebrities, and watching films such as Smithereens, Final Destination, and Anti-Christ.

Steven Baker
Bollywood Reporter

Steven joined DS as a Bollywood reporter in September 2010. He is a freelance journalist and has worked as a columnist for Hindustan Times. Steven has an MA in Indian cinema and has appeared in over twenty Bollywood films.

Priya Joshi
Priya Joshi
Bollywood Reporter

Priya joined the DS team as a Bollywood reporter in June 2011. She is an established freelance journalist with a background in film production and scriptwriting. Her fave films are Sholay, A Matter of Life and Death and Kill Bill Vol. 1. Priya is also mildly obsessed with '70s US TV series such as Star Trek.

Jennifer Still
US Reporter

Justin Harp
US Reporter

Justin joined DS in 2010, covering the latest developments in Hollywood and beyond. He spends his free time reading about the golden era of Hollywood, watching pretentious art films and obsessing over TV shows like Doctor Who, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development.

Tara Fowler
US Reporter

Tara joined Digital Spy as a US reporter in September 2010. She currently attends Boston College, where she is pursuing a double major in Biology and English. Her dream is to one day meet (and eventually marry) Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder.

Kristina Bustos
US Entertainment Reporter

Kristina joined the site in October 2011.

Leah Simpson
US Entertainment Reporter

Leah joined DS from Express Newspapers in January 2012 after relocating from London to LA. When she's not glued to reality TV, you'll find her schmoozing at events, indulging in her love of spa days and trying to complete her own A-Z list of restaurants to frequent. A fan of holidays and house music, she's also partial to a bit of Hanson (yes, as in 'MMMBop'!).

Staff - No Profile Picture
Zeba Blay
US Entertainment Reporter

Zeba started working for Digital Spy in January 2012 to cover entertainment news.

Staff - No Profile Picture
Scott Nichols
US Gaming Reporter

Scott became DS's first US-based gaming reporter in March 2011. He usually sticks to writing news, but occasionally contributes to the Level Up blog by posting the latest downloadable content releases.
