Amanda Overmyer is the latest contestant to be voted off American Idol.
As with last week's show, hopefuls sang Beatles tracks with 23-year-old Indiana nurse Overmyer performing 'Back in the USSR'.
Singing 'You've Got to Hide Your Love Away', Kristy Lee Cook, for the second week running, and Carly Smithson ('Blackbird') were also in the bottom three but were saved by the public vote.
"It's been a run," Amanda told host Ryan Seacrest. "Number 11 out of all them people was more than I could ever expect."
The host described Amanda, who stood out due to her streaked hair and rock style, as "one of the most fearless contestants we have ever had".
Overmyer narrowly misses out on joining the American Idol Live tour, which is for the top ten contenders only.
It was also revealed on Wednesday's show that Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Neil Diamond and Andrew Lloyd Webber would be this year's celebrity mentors.
