Kirsty Lee Cook is the latest hopeful to be voted off American Idol.

The 24-year-old country singer ended up in the bottom three after failing to impress the judges with her performance of Mariah Carey's 'Forever' on Tuesday's show.

All the contestants sang a Carey hit in front of the star herself, who took to the stage to perform single 'Bye Bye' from her new album E=MC2.

Cook, who lost out to Syesha Mercado and Brooke White, playfully sat on the judges' table in front of Simon Cowell as she sang her farewell song after her elimination.

Mercado, White, David Cook, David Archuleta, Carly Smithson and Jason Castro will compete in next week's show, where they will be mentored by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
