The Top 13 will sing songs from Michael Jackson's back catalogue on this week's American Idol, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Fox announced the theme after contestants spoke about the plans at the Top 13 Party in Los Angeles.
"Michael Jackson might be coming up," said finalist Kris Allen. "Which would be kind of fun, but scary as well since I actually did a Michael Jackson song [in the semifinal round]."
However, the show's bosses insisted that Jackson would not be mentoring the contestants on this week's show.
Meanwhile, Kanye West and former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson have been confirmed to perform on Wednesday night's elimination show.
