Fans, judges make next 'Idol' decision

Megan Joy has become the latest contestant to be voted off American Idol and she was not saved by the judges' veto.

Joy had sung Lauryn Hill's version of Bob Marley's 'Turn The Lights Down Low' this week in a performance that was criticised by all four judges.

After she received the lowest number of votes from the public, the panel opted not to use their veto power to save the singer.

Simon Cowell said: "I'm not going to pretend that we're even going to contemplate saving you."

Before her final performance, Cowell added: "Megan, with the greatest respect, when you said that you don't care, nor do we. ... This is your swan song. Enjoy it."

Next week's show will see the remaining eight contestants sing songs released in the years they were born.
