Clay Aiken has admitted that he is not a fan of Adam Lambert.
The former American Idol contestant said that listening to this season's runner-up made him think that his "ears would bleed", Access Hollywood reports.
"I happened to turn it on during the minute that Adam Lambert was singing 'Ring Of Fire'...Contrived, awful and slightly frightening," Aiken wrote on his website.
The singer went on to say that though he only saw Lambert perform on once occasion, seeing more of him wouldn't have changed his mind.
"I wasn't really a fan and found myself surprised whenever folks told me that they liked him. Granted, I never saw another performance (and many folks who I trust said he was great) but I can't imagine I would have enjoyed it. Just not my cup of tea at all," the 'Measure Of A Man' artist said.
Aiken also revealed that he thinks the show has changed since he was a contender, saying that it "stopped being about real people" who "happened to sing [and] entertain well".
He added that he believes Kris Allen beat Lambert to the winner's prize because he seemed more "real".
"Those votes for Kris were also votes to return the show to its roots of finding 'real' contestants with undiscovered talent and giving them the chance to grow and shine. They were votes that said, 'We're tired of seeing contestants who already seem to know it all'."
