Former American Idol contestant Corey Clark has been arrested on drug charges and for having an outstanding warrant from Arizona.

The reality TV star was taken in by police on Monday on charge of possession of a controlled substance and for possessing drug paraphernalia.

A warrant had been issued for him after he failed to turn up to court following an arrest for violating a court order and trespassing last year.

John Rehrauer, a spokesman for the sheriff's department at the Pulaski County jail, confirmed Clark was being held there and is due to appear in court in North Little Rock today.

Clark was disqualified from the finals of Idol in 2003 when it was revealed he had failed to let show bosses know about a previous arrest.

He also accused show judge Paula Abdul of initiating an affair, but all allegations were denied and Fox cleared her name.
