Ofcom looking into Capital competition

Ofcom has confirmed it is looking into a competition on Capital 95.8 which was reopened five days after it had been "won".

Capital alerted the regulator after it realised the person who had claimed victory of its London iTest feature, who would have won £155,000, had broken terms and conditions.

The competition on the Johnny Vaughan and Denise van Outen breakfast show was reopened last week after initially being closed on June 6.

To win London iTest, listeners have to identify celebrities from a recording of them saying the letter I. A statement on Capital's website said: "Why are we playing again? Well, on Friday afternoon you may have heard an iTest caller correctly identifying the third and final mystery celebrity name.

"Immediately after any competition is won, Capital checks that the winner was eligible to take part in the competition and that prizes have been won fairly and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the competition. In this case the caller was not eligible to win."
