Fox lined up for 'Rescue Me' guest role

Michael J. Fox is in talks to appear in the next series of FX drama Rescue Me, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The Back To The Future star will play a love interest to Janet (Andrea Roth), the ex-wife of lead character Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary), in a multi-episode arc.

An FX spokesperson admitted that Fox was close to signing for the role but claimed that "no deal is done yet".

The 47-year-old actor, a huge star in the '80s, has taken on fewer acting parts since announcing that he was suffering from Parkinson's disease in 1998. He has recently appeared in guest roles on Boston Legal and Scrubs.

The new series of Rescue Me begins next March.
