Don Cheadle will produce and star in the film Marching Powder, reports Variety.

The movie focuses on British drug trafficker Thomas McFadden, who served a six-year jail term in a Bolivian prison.

It is based on McFadden's memoir Marching Powder: A True Story Of Friendship, Cocaine And South America's Strangest Jail, which he wrote with Rusty Young.

Jose Padilha will script and direct the movie. The Brazil-born filmmaker previously helmed documentary Bus 174.

Brad Pitt, David Guy Levy and Benjamin Goldhirsh will serve as producers along with Cheadle.
