Ant & Dec will host the global television event World Idol, it was confirmed today.

The show, which will air in two parts - the first on Christmas Day, and the second on New Year's Day - will feature winners from Idol contests from around the world. Simon Cowell will be representing the USA on the international judging panel; Pete Waterman will be Pop Idol's ambassador.
