Channel 4 unveils 'Shattered'

Channel 4 have announced more details about its upcoming week-long reality event Shattered.

Beginning on January 4, 12 contestants will enter the Shattered compound to compete for a potential prize fund of £100,000. Extreme sleep deprivation will be the name of the game: every time one of them drops off, so does the prize fund.

Each day over the course of the week the contestant who is coping the least well with sleep deprivation will be eliminated from the competition.

Dermot O'Leary will host the Channel 4 shows each night at 10pm, in addition to living with the contestants himself (albeit in his own 'special' room and being allowed to sleep).

E4 will forego its usual coverage of The Salon to provide live round-the-clock streaming from the compound. A companion show called Absolutely Shattered will air immediately after the C4 show at 11pm following the eliminated contestant as they are debriefed by the experts before being reunited with friends and family.

The series is being made by the team behind Big Brother.
