Millennium gig to be broadcast across UK

The Tsunami Relief Cardiff gig will be broadcast live by the BBC across the UK and internationally on the internet.

The sold-out concert, with an ever-growing line-up, will take place on January 22 in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

Clare Hudson, BBC Wales Head of English Language Programmes, said: "With all tickets for the event having sold out within days, we are delighted to be able to bring the concert into the homes of those who would otherwise have missed out.

"The BBC has been talking to the Millennium Stadium since the concert was announced and we have managed to reach an agreement that will take full coverage of this momentous event to the whole of Wales, the UK and beyond."

The entire event will be shown by BBC Wales on S4C from 3pm until it ends late at night, and its coverage on S4C digidol (channel 151 outside of Wales) will bring the event to the whole of the UK with Digital Satellite capability.

BBC2 will show coverage from 6-7 pm and then recommence at 11pm until the end. BBC One Wales will take up coverage from 9-10pm and then resume after breaking for the Ten O'Clock News.

BBC Wales will also make available the pictures from 7-9pm to other broadcasters.

BBC Radio Wales will provide total coverage, BBC Radio Two will offer extensive coverage, and a deal with BT means that the concert can be broadcast internationally via broadband.
