Amstrad chairman Sir Alan Sugar, host of the upcoming UK version of the show, has described the Donald as "full of himself."
Talking about his attitude in the series, Sugar told the Sunday Times: "I’m not like Trump showing off his apartment — who gives a f***? He’s so full of himself. There are different types of business ego. Some people just want to show you all the stuff they’ve got. I just like to show off about how clever I am in business."
The Tottenham chairman also revealed he was in dispute with producers over the content of the show. Sugar, who admits to hating reality TV, opposes airing typical elements of the genre such as in-fighting between the contestants. "You can imagine me coming into these producers, these bloody arty-farty, creative arseholes, right? They know everything. What they can’t accept is that perhaps I know a little bit more about what’s going to make this a better programme than them. And I said to them: this stuff in the middle is shit ... I don’t want to see them walking round the house in their brassieres and banging their heads against the wall. Well, the banging the head against the wall was quite funny. But I don’t want to watch them sitting around, brainstorming among themselves. Anyway, I’m working on it, leave it to me."
Of the 14 candidates vying for a job at his firm, he said: "I would say they’re very bright: they’re not mugs, this lot, not Big Brother types. Definitely, I’d think of employing any one of them. Well, not all: some of them are just unemployable."
The Apprentice UK is being given a prime 9pm slot on BBC Two beginning Wednesday, February 16.
