Premium DTT add-on service Top Up TV has attracted 160,000 subscribers since its launch last April, Broadcast reports today.

The company is now well on-track to reach its break-even target of 250,000 subscribers early next year. The news is made even more impressive by the fact that out of the estimated 5 million Freeview households, only around 1 million have set-top boxes capable of using the service.

"We’re well under a year old and the business is going according to plan," said Top Up chairman David Chance. "We said we’d achieve our break-even target of 250,000 within two years and we’re on target."

Top Up TV offers a ten-channel pay TV lineup for £7.99 a month.
