Christina Aguilera engaged

Christina Aguilera has got engaged to her long-term lover, Jordan Bratman, the American People magazine claims.

Bratman proposed to Aguilera on Friday night, while on holiday with the star.

"Christina was very surprised," a friend told the magazine's website. "She's ecstatic."

Aguilera previously stated that she did not wish to rush into marriage, commenting, "everybody else is jumping the gun".
