Ratings Roundup: 'Enders still strong Monday

The aftermath of Dirty Den's murder continued to interest viewers on Monday night, according to early ratings figures.

EastEnders managed an impressive 13.43 million viewers - a 53.2% share of the audience - at 8pm, but was still narrowly pipped by a relatively uneventful episode of Coronation Street, which had 13.64 million (56.2%) at 7.30pm. The second installment pulled in 11.71 million (45.3%) an hour later.

At 9pm, BBC One's continuing drama Dalziel and Pascoe picked up 7.62 million (30.9%), comfortably topping ITV1's returning detective series Wire in the Blood, with 6.28 million (26.9%).

Channel 4's Bodyshock, featuring a Romanian woman with an 11-stone tumour, attracted 2.37 million (9.6%) in the 9pm hour. Meanwhile, Five's countdown to Britain's Favourite Number One held 1.61 million (7.6%) between 9pm and 11.05pm.

Over on multichannel, Sky One's documentary on the Chavs epidemic proved popular with 520,000 viewers (a 3.3% multichannel share) at 9pm. ITV2's Monday night movie Crocodile Dundee was also a sure bet with an average of 496,000 (3.5%) between 9pm and 10.55pm.

A new episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit fared well for the Hallmark channel at 10pm, drawing an average of 253,000 (2.1%). E4's new episode of Smallville averaged 193,000 (1.2%) and an extra 71,000 via E4+1.
