Christopher Lee is unimpressed that he was left out of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

Having appeared as evil wizard Saruman in the first two movies, Lee was displeased to find that his scenes in the third movie did not make the final cut, which he feels was bad for the audience's experience.

He told Total Film magazine: "My point was not that, as an actor, I'd had my scenes taken out. It was the story. You can't have a man looking frantic on a balcony when everything is being destroyed and then never see him again.

"The audience would demand, as they did, to know what happened to him. I just didn't understand it. I was given plenty of reasons why I was cut out, none of which made sense."
