The channel, which broadcasts 24 hours a day from the Isle of Wight, intends to go live "as early as this coming winter".
"We are all very excited about the move to Sky. It has always been in our long term plans, but new developments have allowed us to get there much quicker than originally anticipated," said Paul Topping, Solent's director of broadcasting.
“It will mean our viewers, and those Islanders who have always wanted to watch, will now be able to see our programmes in a crystal clear digital format and Solent TV will be able to show people living across the UK and Europe exactly what the Isle of Wight has to offer."
The existing terrestrial service will continue alongside its new digital counterpart for several years to come.
