I bought this when my on- digital box died. It is very basic but also very reliable. On the odd occasion when it has frozen or malfunctioned, disconnecting it from the power for a few minutes always fixed it. For a very cheap set to box this is a good buy.

If you have the same remote control as the GDB6, then you have my sympathy - basically IT IS CRAP! Anything over 8 feet from the set top box and it starts giving strange results ie. select a channel and the setup menu appears!, or another time you may get a totally different channel or for that matter anything it may decide...stand 2 feet away from it and it works perfectly! For a product from a biggish manufacturer, this is un-acceptable and totally frustrating - ask my wife... So, based on that, we DO NOT recommend this product - you have been warned!!!!!

Bob is right - load of rubbish. Subtitles switch on when you want to change chanel and all sorts of wrong events happen

Absolutely rubbish!! I've had 5 of these boxes as a result of taking them back over and over again and none of them have worked. It gets stuck on standby loads of times, loses channels without having done a new scan and sometimes just switches itself off completely despite the fact it's connected to the mains. Got the upgrade to the 7 day EPG on the first one I had but haven't been able to get an update since. The cheaper ones appear to be the most reliable.

I bought one of these boxes 18 months ago for my parents. It worked very well and they were happy. However a few weeks ago it completely died. The led on the front no longer lights up and no signal comes out. Its not the power supply (checked with a meter). I got it working again once by giving it a firm tap but it soon failed again never to return. From what I have read this is not an uncommon experience with Vestel boxes.
