Many broadcasters, including Living TV and More4, had all passed on the show over fears that its apparent "jingoistic" tone would alienate UK audiences.
All 22 episodes from the first season have now been sold to Disney's UK-based multichannel abc1, which is planning to mount a "significant" marketing campaign to launch the show in April.
The news comes after abc1's conclusion of a deal to air supernatural drama Ghost Whisperer from next January. The station is now planning to compete with other broadcasters at the LA screenings this May.
Ironically, the acquisition of Commander-In-Chief comes just as its US broadcaster ABC takes it on a six-week hiatus.
