I like this recorder despite what some people think of it. I originally purchased a Philips 3305 - what a load of crap. Firstly, if you want to use DVD-RW discs in it, it will only record in 'VR' mode instead of video mode. Secondly it sees computer created dvds as blanks, hence you cant play them. I exchanged for this sony - which does play computer created dvds, and lets you record in both DVD-RW VR and DVD-RW Video mode (as well as recording & playing DVD-R, +R, +RW). Only 2 problems - the RGB loopthrough doesnt work, so if you loop a set top box through it via scart, the picture quality is crap (but works fine with S-video). Secondly, it must be tured on to loop any signal through. This isnt a problem for me as my ondigital box has 2 scart sockets, so one links directly to the TV - so DVD recorder doesnt need to be turned on.

Very easy to use. Works with various DVD disks (Maxell, JVC, Philips, Tescos). No problems with DVD+RW, DVD-RW. Has some built-in copy protection which will stop you copying some video tapes to disk. Had to use my PC to fully format some cheap DVD RWs (ones from Tescos) as the image kept freezing on playback. Need to keep a check on the Clock as it does wander off some-times. Have to press 'PLAY' to start some commercial DVDs (E.G. LOTRs which play ok with menus on both my DVD Players).

I bought the Sony RDR-GX210S in Curry's when my Liteon failed for the third time. In some ways I was disappointed as getting a new recorder free every four months was great. Sony has been reliable for a year, if not used regularly. I've noticed the disconnect on lipsync but thought it was a SKY fault as it only happened when recording from this source. Editing is superb, quick and easy and takes just a few minutes but only works on +R. Play and recording picture quality is good. It now won't finalise disks since I changed a few of the settings, but they still seem to be playable on other recorders – weird. Wouldn't buy this one again as it wasn't too cheap and for £80 you can buy one from Tesco which is as good.
