2 1/2 years old and broken. Fault develops after bulb blows and Sagem don't want to know. What a waste of £2,700. There's a design fault with the 45" and 56" (Same internals).

I have a 45" and the lamp blew. New lamp installed and nothing....until i replaced the integral 0.315amp 20mm slow blow glass fuse...then joy, it lives again. But Sagem won't tell you because they want you to buy the full housing and lamp.

Where did you get ahold of a 0.31 Ampere fuse? I've read people are using 0.5A fuses as well. But I'm not sure that's so wise...

The reason you are advised against only replacing the fuse and not using an an official lamp is that your TV will not run at full efficiency. Also handling the lamp yourself will shorten its lifespan. I do not know of any manufacturer whom advice customers to use unofficial parts. you do the math. Also, what does the other guy mean about 'design fault?' . Lamps fail...just like any device eventually fails, except this one is designed to run at a contstant light at a very high temperature. Also you need to follow the correct procedures for starting and sutting down your TV, and keep the TV in a clean well ventilated position. Failing to do so amongst other things will shorten the life of your lamp. Perhaps you should do your homework before purchase or use a reputable dealer who will inform you of this info before hand. These Tv's provide a great picture at a great price

I have a 50" version which since last night won't work, I switch it on it comes on for a few seconds then it switches itself back on too standby... arghhh, any ideas as to why its doing this are most welcome!!!

My (Mark 1) HD50" (3 years old now?) had the same problem. Mine doesn't have a fuse, but following advice on another forum I found the relevant wires, soldered them together and, hey presto, telly works again. TV now thinks there's a new bulb in it every time it switches on. That was over a year ago. Bulb will eventually REALLY fail. Don;t take this as advice - just what I did.

my tv seems to overheat! switches itself into standby!, the lamp has been changed , do i need to change the slow blow fuse?, sagem are very unhelpfull,

i have the 56b. before you go out to buy a lamp, around £85 on ebay, change the fuse in the lamp casing 0.5amp. i have done this twice now and still going strong. the tv is now 2 years old. so my advice is, invest a £1 buy yourself a couple of fuses.
