Kylie Minogue to write kids' books

Kylie Minogue has revealed that she has plans to write a book for children based on her rise to fame.

The Showgirl Princess, which is aimed at children aged six and upwards, will be released by Puffin publications in September and will feature photographs of the star alongside drawn illustrations.

The book's editor, Jane Richardson, says that the story will "appeal to little princesses everywhere who love to dress up and have fun.

"It brims with positive messages such as believing in yourself and the importance of friendship and teamwork."

The book comes in the wake of a very similar publication by Madonna, also released by Puffin in 2003. English Roses, Madonna's first children's book, sold over 500,000 copies worldwide and spent 18 weeks at the top of the New York Times' bestseller list.
