Music boss Simon Fuller has quadrupled his fortune over the last year thanks to his involvement in The X Factor.

The 2006 Sunday Times Rich List shows the band manager-turned-television producer is now worth £300 million - £225m up on 2005.

His riches were also boosted from the sale of the US rights to Pop Idol - earning him £35m – and a £69m sale of a stake in an entertainment production company.

The 45-year-old, who also managed the Spice Girls, is now joint second in the list of Film and Television Millionaires with film distributors Nigel and Trevor Green.

JK Rowling holds on to the top spot, Harry Potter having earned her £520m. Madonna and Guy Ritchie are in fourth place with £248m, boosted this year by sales of Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Other rich celebrities include Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas in sixth place with £175million and Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Sharon, in tenth position, with £100m.
