Spears recruits male nanny after "split"

Britney Spears has recruited a male nanny following her reported split from Kevin Federline and sustained criticism of her mothering skills.

The assistant – dubbed a "manny" by US showbiz press – has been carrying out tasks from looking after eight-month-old baby Sean Preston to unloading shopping.

Named Perry, he is reportedly also a trained bodyguard ready to fend off danger – and photographers.

The singer's appointment comes after a string of speculation about her ability as a mother. She has been photographed almost dropping Preston and driving with him on her lap as well as receiving criticism for delaying in taking him to the hospital.
