Sky One has announced a third pickup from the US for next season.

The broadcaster has acquired the free and basic cable rights to Standoff, a new 24-style drama airing on Fox from September.

The series is set at the CNU (Crisis Negotiation Unit) in Los Angeles and follows lead negotiators Matt Flannery and Emil Lehman as they talk their way through a variety of volatile situations. The cast includes Ron Livingston (Sex and The City), Rosemarie DeWitt (Rescue Me) and 24 alumni Gina Torres and Michael Cudlitz.

"Standoff combines the sexual tension of such classic series as Moonlighting with the adrenaline-paced suspense of 24," said David Smyth, who brokered the deal for Sky One. "We were really impressed with the chemistry between the two leads and are confident that the series will be the perfect companion to our hit series Cold Case and Bones."

Sky One previously won the rights to new CW drama Hidden Palms and comedy Lovespring International. Standoff will air on the channel from November.
