Sky One 'smartens' up for autumn

Sky has unveiled its autumn line-up today, with two new gameshows headlining its programming.

Noel Edmonds will be the first to host the UK's version of US hit Are you Smarter Than A 5th Grader? - Are You Smarter Than A 10-Year Old? - on Sky One. The show sees adults competing for a potential cash prize of £250,000 in a quiz based on the National Curriculum’s Key Stages One and Two against a group of smart kids. Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood (aka Dick and Dom) will host the daytime series which will launch on Sky One later in the year.

Edmonds will also revive his 'wish-granting' programme Noel’s Christmas Presents on Sky One over the festive season. The 90-minute programme will be broadcast on Christmas Day.

Richard Woolfe said: “Christmas without turkey, crackers or Noel is just not right, so I am thrilled that we’re able to bring back this Christmas institution. This autumn offers a tantilising smorgasbord of delights to whet people’s appetites until the festive season."

The father of TV confessionals Jerry Springer comes to Sky this autumn in another new game show. Nothing But The Truth sees contestants hoping to win a big cash prize for confessing and telling the truth.

Ross Kemp returns to Sky One in Ross Kemp In Afghanistan and in another series of Ross Kemp on Gangs in October. There's a new series of US hit Prison Break, Project Runway, Cirque de Celebrite and the 19th season of The Simpsons.

Sky One's replacement for The Match, Premier League All Stars will air throughout autumn with Ian Wright and Helen Chamberlain as hosts, as fans and football legends play side by side for their chosen teams.

Sky will also follow the success of last year's Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather with The Colour Of Magic. The multi-million pound adaptation of the first Discworld novel, which is currently filming at Pinewood Studios and features an all-star cast including Sir David Jason, Tim Curry, Sean Astin and Christopher Lee. The drama will be broadcast in Spring 2008.
