Britney's recent ill-advised foray into nu-rave is thankfully over, pop fans. Yes her last single 'Klaxons Saved My Life' may have been a bigger flop than Johnny Borrell's solo career (remember him?!), but thankfully, two years on, she's ditched the Calvin Harris production team and returned to the US to work on a new album of big band covers that recalls her rat pack album of 2012 Sinatra Baby One More Time. Spears has taken the classic track, best remembered as one of the late, great Robbie Williams' finest tunes (It was originally recorded by some chap called Frank apparently) and added her own usual spice with some witty lyrical alterations and trashy disco beats.

Spears' panting vocals add a husky sexiness to the triumphant and vitriolic lyrics, where she jokes about her past dalliances with drugs and general naughtiness over the past decade. Rather then bellowing: "I've loved / I've laughed / I've cried", Spears whispers over a clash of synths and angular guitars: "I've drunk / I've screamed / I've vomited". Later she switches the line: "There were times, I'm sure you knew / When I bit off then I could chew", cooing: "There were times, I'm sure you knew / When I chopped off, all my hair in view". Little did we know that everyone from Paris Hilton to Lourdes Ciccone would be rocking the shaved head look back when Britney went under the razors in '07. The veteran popstress is back, and she's on sizzling form.
