Alan confronts Andrea at her birthday party about his memories, with everyone else now not remembering Maria. Andrea breaks down in her attic and confesses the truth, revealing that the same shady figure in a black cloak gave her the chance to switch her life with Sarah Jane's when she was due to die by falling off the pier.
Now that Alan knows too much, the Graske is quickly dispatched to capture him. However, his skateboarding skills come in handy as he knocks the little alien down with his board and uses the box to bring back his daughter. The Graske is tied up and admits that he is employed only as a slave for this mysterious 'Trickster' (as Alan calls the figure).
The meteor is heading towards earth and the news reveals that there is little hope of it being diverted at such a late stage.
In the attic, Andrea is confronted by Sarah Jane via the mirror. The Doctor's former companion explains that witnessing her school friend's tragic death gave her the resolve to prevent the needless waste of life. This has a profound effect on Andrea, as she hurls the box against the mirror when the Trickster suddenly appears, with the effect being one of reversal. We see the young Andrea fall to her death back in 1964.
With normality now being resumed and everyone returned to Earth, Sarah Jane just about manages to deploy her computer Mr Smith in time to deviate the meteor away from Earth.
