What I'm about to say may shock you. ITV has a stack of good shows coming up in the first few weeks of 2008.

Before you start worrying about my mental wellbeing, know that I haven't got a bit carried away with the season's festivities. It's true! There's new Kingdom, new Wild At Heart (minus Amanda Holden - hurrah!), new Ladette To Lady and a cracking new series called both Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach (but more on that next week). There's also a welcome return for Primeval, the quietly cool sci-fi adventure starring Douglas Henshall and Hannah Spearritt.

As is tradition, here are ten things I can tell you about Primeval 2:

1. A recap of where we're at as series two begins: Nick Cutter returns from through the anomaly (where he inadvertently deposited the creatures from the future, along with his wife Helen) only to find that the present day has been changed by his actions in the past. His lover, Claudia Brown, doesn't exist! There's also unfinished business with his partner-in-crime Stephen, following the revelation that Stephen had an affair with Helen.

2. In the new version of the present day, the team works for Lester at a hi-tech operations base known as the Anomaly Research Centre (aka 'ARC'). Lester has a new second in command - oily assistant Oliver Leek.

3. There is little time for Cutter to draw breath in this new world, however, as the team face an urgent assignment. A group of Utahraptors from the Jurassic era is loose in a shopping mall!

4. Connor is thankfully still on hand to provide comic relief, be it making a well-timed wisecrack or accidentally shooting one of his colleagues.

5. How has Helen been able to predict when and where the anomalies will occur? Cutter begins to figure it out in the first episode, although the likes of 'Flava FM' might have something to say about it! Expect them to hone the art of anomaly detection as the series progresses.

6. Most of the anomalies so far have opened windows to the past, but as we saw at the end of series one, anomalies to the future are also in existence. A little birdy tells me that the team will get to experience a future world first-hand come episode four.

7. Next up, an exclusive look at one of the creatures from episode three:

Apparently there are fifty images for fans to "collect"; you can find more clues over at the new show microsite.

8. Connor (Andrew-Lee Potts) gets a girlfriend! Caroline Steel (Naomi Bentley), a "feisty, attractive 20-something", sets her sights on Connor and makes sure she gets her man. But there may be more to her than meets the eye... can anyone say "ulterior motive"?

9. Claudia Brown may be gone, but the actress who plays her is still on the cast for series two. I won't give too much away but she plays an entirely new character this time round, one which is a million miles away from her sappy former alter ego.

10. Finally, a video treat. Earlier this month I popped along to see the cast and you'll be able to watch their interviews - there is scoop galore, be assured! - next week. Here's a sneak peek of our chat with Andrew-Lee Potts (Connor), who pays tribute to the dearly departed Captain Ryan:
