The bash usually attracts a host of A-list stars, but the organisers wish to show their support for the Writers Guild of America by cancelling the event.
A statement from Vanity Fair said: "After much consideration, and in support of the writers and everyone else affected by this strike, we have decided that this is not the appropriate year to hold our annual Oscar party.
"We want to congratulate all of this year's nominees and we look forward to hosting our 15th Oscar party next year."
Academy president Sid Ganis confirmed yesterday that the annual awards ceremony would still be taking place on February 24 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
