Xbox 360 and PS3 release Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 has gone straight to the top of the latest all-formats games chart.
The title, the first number one game for Ubisoft this year, is the fifth release in the Tom Clancy franchise to reach the top spot.
Ubisoft, which saw 77% of all sales of the game go to Xbox 360 users, said the title sold 3.6 times more copies than the original had on Microsoft's next-gen console back in December 2006.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is now the fourth fastest-selling Xbox 360 game in the UK, behind leader Halo 3, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and only 1,000 copies behind third-placed Assassin's Creed.
Ubisoft's tactical shooter performed so well that, even though Sega's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games enjoyed a 60% rise in sales, it still dropped one place to become this week's number two.
Renewed stock of Nintendo's Wii Play saw it re-enter the charts this week at number seven, while new entry Sega Superstars Tennis made its debut at number ten.
The only top ten game to see sales fall this week was EA's Army of Two, dropping from last week's number two to this week's number eight.
