To say that Kate Moss and Britney Spears have had a rocky past couple of years would be a colossal understatement. With drug scandals, rock star romances and stints in rehab, Kate and Britney have become permanent residents on showbiz and gossip pages. However, both tabloid regulars look like they're finding the silver-lining on their recent black clouds.

After a turbulent relationship with Pete Doherty, Moss is rumoured to be engaged to The Kills rocker Jamie Hince. The pair recently expressed their love for each other by singing and dancing on the grave of dead rock icon Jim Morrison! Troubled Britney has headed back to work by guest starring on US sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Critics gave Brit's acting the thumbs up and ratings of 10.6 million proved to be a season high for the comedy show.

DS takes you from Kate to Britney through six degrees of separation.

Kate Moss to... Johnny Depp - Back when Pete Doherty was a mere youngster, leaping around his bedroom playing air guitar to Oasis, Kate was already on her way to supermodel stardom and involved in a high-profile relationship with Johnny Depp. The pair were engaged to be married but broke the relationship off with Johnny later admitting "I don't think I was very good for her".

Johnny Depp to... Paul Whitehouse - He may be a massive Hollywood star but Johnny Depp also has a penchant for British comedy shows. He appeared as himself in The Vicar of Dibley in 1999, then a year later, after professing his love for sketch comedy The Fast Show, Paul Whitehouse invited him on to star as a bemused American ambushed by the sex-obsessed "Suits You" tailors.

Paul Whitehouse to... Catherine Tate - Having started out with Harry Enfield, UK comedy veteran Paul Whitehouse went on to co-create The Fast Show and the brief but brilliant Happiness. His old mate Johnny has even helped him get a couple of film roles in Corpse Bride and Finding Neverland. Whitehouse crossed paths with the current Queen of British comedy Catherine Tate when he cameoed on her BBC show in 2005.

Catherine Tate to... Kim Cattrall - Like Whitehouse, Tate seems to have garnered fans in Hollywood. Kim Cattrall, who reprises her role as maneater Samantha Jones in this summer's Sex And The City movie, admitted last year that she was a "huge fan" of Tate's vast array of comedy characters. "I'd love to be on her show. It's so funny," Cattrall claimed.

Kim Cattrall to... Britney Spears - Cattrall might be recognised for her TV work, but back in the '80s she popped up in movies such as Police Academy and the barking mad Mannequin. She revived her film career in 2002 by starring in Crossroads, a coming-of-age movie about a girl's journey to find her long-lost mother. Cattrall starred as the evil mother while Britney Spears attempted to conquer Hollywood playing wide-eyed teen Lucy Wagner.
