You wouldn't expect to find Coleen McLoughlin discussing politics with Arnold Schwarzenegger at a swanky dinner party or indeed Arnie donning a red footie strip to cheer on Man Utd at Old Trafford. If ever two celebs moved in completely different circles, it's the Liverpudlian WAG and the Austrian-born actor-turned-California Governor. Surely it's not possible to connect these two wildly dissimilar stars in just a few short steps? Erm... actually, it is. In time-honoured Six Degrees tradition, it takes only a scary mask, an unpronouncable symbol and a golden raspberry to discover they're like two peas in a pod.

DS takes you from Arnie to Coleen through Six Degrees of Separation.

Arnold Schwarzenegger to... Jamie Lee Curtis - Back in his acting days, Arnie starred as a secret agent whose wife believes he's a computer salesman in acclaimed 1994 movie True Lies. His cheating spouse was played by former scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis (or Lady Haden-Guest, as she is officially known), who walked away with a Golden Globe for her performance. Better still, her striptease in the film was recently voted the sexiest in cinema history.

Jamie Lee Curtis to... William Shatner - Curtis made her movie debut as teenger Laurie Strode in 1978 horror classic Halloween. When searching for a suitably grotesque look for baddie Michael Myers, the film's designer bought a mask of Star Trek hero Captain Kirk, played by William Shatner. He cut open the eye sockets, tore off the eyebrows and sideburns, poofed up the hair to make it appear "demented", painted it white - and one of the most iconic villains in horror was born. We have to agree being stalked by a nutcase in a William Shatner mask would be enough to scare the beejesus out of anyone.

William Shatner to... Prince - The Shat is among only a handful of stars who directed themselves in performances which won them a Razzie Award for Worst Actor. Other thesps on the illustrious list include Sylvester Stallone, Roberto Benigni, Kevin Costner, Tom Green and popstar Prince. Both Shatner and Prince were also up for the Worst Actor of the Century gong in 2000 but lost out to Sly, who has earned a whole cabinet-full of Golden Raspberries during his career.

Prince to... Gwen Stefani - His Purpleness spent seven years going by the name of an unpronouncable symbol during the '90s, which led to bewildered critics dubbing him The Artist Formerly Known As Prince (later shortened to the much catchier "TAFKAP"). During this wacky period, he recorded 1999 LP Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic, which included Gwen Stefani duet 'So Far, So Pleased'. Plans to release it as a single were shelved when No Doubt's label refused permission.

Gwen Stefani to... Coleen McLoughlin - The US songstress recently finished seventh in a Look magazine poll to find Britain's number one fashion icon. Venturing further up the list, we find that the top spot was taken by none other than WAG queen Coleen McLoughlin, who was praised for transforming herself from "puffa jacket schoolgirl" to style icon in a few short years. However, it's not all good news - she also made the top ten on a list of the least talented celebs in the UK. You have to take the rough with the smooth, Coleen!
