S04E09: 'The Shape Of Things To Come'

Alex is forced to lead her captors to the location of Ben Linus, but she triggers an alarm that tells her father that danger is on the way. The barracks are then attacked and Sawyer manages to save Claire from a burning house. The leader of the soldiers, Keamy, puts a gun to Alex's head and orders Ben to emerge from his hiding place or else he will shoot his daughter. Ben tries to bluff and says that Alex is worthless to him, but is shocked when Keamy shoots her dead.

Ben runs to a secret room in the house and activates the Black Smoke Monster to dispatch the soldiers later that night. Ben and Locke subsequently head off to find Jacob and take Hurley with them, much to Sawyer's annoyance.

On the beach, the body of the freighter's doctor is washed ashore. Daniel uses morse code to contact the freighter and claims that their response states that rescue will be sent soon. However, Bernard uses his morse code knowledge to expose Daniel as a liar as the freighter's message really said that the doctor is fine. Daniel admits that there were never plans to rescue the crash survivors.

In a series of flashforwards, Ben is first seen waking up in the Sahara Desert before travelling to the funeral of Sayid's wife in Iraq. Sayid is told that Charles Widmore was behind her death and soon the man responsible is killed. Sayid is keen to work for Ben.

Ben breaks into Widmore's London residence and tells him that he will kill his daughter Penelope as a response to the death of his own daughter.
