Dickson says goodbye to on-air persona

Ian Dickson has said goodbye to his television persona.
The TV star, who is best known as "Dicko" on shows such as Australian Idol and My Restaurant Rules, said that he is heading in a "new direction" with his career after losing his Melbourne radio job.
Dickson told The Daily Telegraph: "It might be time to get rid of 'Dicko' and bury him once and for all.
"I don't want to force that persona on people any more because I am heading in a new direction. I have discovered fame is an addiction and I'm ashamed to admit I became addicted to it in ways like always trying to create a headline by whatever clever line I could come up with.
"Since I gave up drinking 18 months ago, I have become a completely different person - one that is now encumbered by the shattered expectations of a person who got caught up in the public eye and allowed his values to be twisted."
