An Australian television star has died following a skiing accident.
Michael Meagher, who was best known as a Channel Nine news reporter, hit a tree while skiing during a family holiday in the Snowy Mountains near Sydney.
According to AAP, the 55-year-old former journalist sustained severe head injuries in the accident and died at the scene.
The CEO of the Perisher Blue resort, where Meagher was staying, said in an official statement: "Over 10,000 visitors were enjoying Perisher today under a brilliant blue sky. Skiing together as a family in such great weather is a truly wonderful activity, but in this instance it has unfortunately ended so tragically."
