The three lead actresses in new Australian drama Offspring have said that their new show is "eccentric".
The series, which stars Asher Keddie, Kate Stewart and Deborah Mailman, tells the story of an over-analytical obstetrician and her relationships with her colleagues and family.
Keddie told Who magazine: "The show pushes the boundaries in the sense that it's very eccentric. It's unpredictable, surprising and I think we're striking a great balance between comedy and drama."
Mailman added: "The appeal for me is that it's really interesting, great writing and something different from the general family drama. It's been great. I think we all really respect each other... so I get excited being on-set!"
Stewart said of the cast's off-camera relationships: "We're bonding. [Asher and Deborah] are both really funny, but that doesn't surprise me. Ash is cheekier than I thought she'd be. Deb is down to earth."
Offspring premieres next week.
