The television channel reportedly hopes that the British comedian, who has been involved with the creation of shows such as Blackadder and Mr Bean, will inject humour into its TV shows.
According to YourTV, Elton will be the presenter, writer and producer of a "smart, high-energy" show called Live From Planet Earth.
Elton said in a statement: "I've had a great love for Australia for many years and have always been made to feel so welcome. With Live From Planet Earth I want to bring a unique and exciting live comedy experience to Aussie screens.
"The audience, the performers and our guests will all play a crucial role in the fun. It's a radical concept, I know, but you're just going to have trust us on this one."
The series is believed to be debuting early next year.
