The 46-year-old Australian television host, who is best known for presenting Channel Seven's Morning Show with Kylie Gillies, has allegedly signed a new $800,000 (£500,000) contract to stay with the network.
An industry insider told The Sunday Telegraph of the rumoured payrise: "There are other people working just as hard in roles that are, if not harder, then certainly more high-profile. This pushes everything over the edge a bit. People can be funny about how much their colleagues are making."
It is believed that Channel Nine were hoping to sign Emdur for the Today show after recent "informal chats" between him and Nine chief executive David Gyngell.
