The Australian television star, who is best known for hosting Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, said that he thinks there has "always been questions" over the voting system for the Aussie TV awards ceremony.
McGuire is the first celebrity to speak out amongst rumours of stars being displeased at The Circle presenter Chrissie Swan being voted for three newcomer awards despite having been on screen for a year.
He told The Daily Telegraph: "You know when you vote for the dumb kid in the class to be the class captain just to gee up the teachers? We don't want to get that going."
Swan has revealed that she is as shocked by the nominations as anyone else, but said: "If the nomination process doesn't throw up a couple of surprises every now and then, what's the point?
"I definitely don't think I'll win and that's fine. I'm not going to prepare an acceptance speech or anything like that."
Packed To The Rafters actress Rebecca Gibney is currently the favourite to win the Gold Logie Award, with co-stars Jessica Marais and Zoe Ventoura also nominated for Silver Logies.
It was recently announced that this year's ceremony, which takes place on May 1, will be presented by City Homicide actor Shane Bourne.
