The Summer Heights High comic's latest project will premiere in Australia before airing in the US and the UK later in the year.
A teaser of the series aired during Comic Relief last month and featured twin brothers Daniel and Nathan Sims, who first appeared in Lilley's We Can Be Heroes series.
The new characters in Angry Boys include juvenile detention worker Ruth 'Gran' Sims, Japanese mother Jen Okazaki, pro suer Blake Oakfield and black rapper S.mOUSE.
Lilley has confessed that he expects the latter to cause some controversy when the show airs overseas.
"I guess it could get interesting in America. I don't know. I don't go into it thinking 'I need to push boundaries', it's about stories and characters," he told the Herald Sun.
"To be honest, after all the crap that happened with Summer Heights High, I was like, 'I'm not going to write anything controversial or edgy ever again, I just can't handle the blame'. But I obviously got over that - you know, let me play a black man and call a bunch of American people n***as."
A clip featuring the S.mOUSE character has surfaced online. Click 'play' below to watch the video:
