Channel Ten bosses have announced that the Australian television drama, which stars Asher Keddie, Kat Stewart and John Waters, has done consistently well in the viewing figures and they are very excited about the next series.
Producer John Edwards told AAP: "Offspring is an enormous joy to make and I just can't wait to get started on the third series."
Ten's chief programming officer David Mott added: "Nothing gives us greater pleasure than to announce more of our favourite relationship drama. Offspring continues to deliver strong audience numbers and particularly in the highly desirable 18 to 49 demographic."
Production on series three of Offspring is scheduled to start later this year.
Some viewers complained about a recent "raunchy" scene on the show that showed Keddie's character Nina slipping into a bubble bath to fantasise about her work colleagues. A spokesperson for the network later warned: "Nina lives a typical lifestyle of a 30-something woman in Offspring and at times it can be racy. Expect more of it."
The star, who was nominated for a Gold Logie award for her role in the drama, revealed earlier this year that she loves how "eccentric" Offspring is, saying: "The show pushes the boundaries... It's unpredictable, surprising and I think we're striking a great balance between comedy and drama."
Offspring airs on Mondays at 9pm on Channel Ten.
