One of the contestants from The Farmer Wants a Wife has said that life gets lonely in the remote countryside.

Victorian farmer Kev, who will reveal in tonight's final episode of the Aussie matchmaking show whether he managed to find love with 25-year-old paramedic Fiona, said that he has lost several close friends to suicide.

He told the Herald Sun: "It was a huge shock: no one had any idea anything was wrong. That's the problem; a lot of men in particular I guess feel they have to be tough and can't talk about how they are feeling, so they bottle it all up.

"It is lonely out on the farm and it can be uncomfortable to talk about what's going on."

Kev is scheduled to appear on tonight's episode of game show Hot Seat to raise money for depression charity BeyondBlue.

Kev's fellow contestant Will recently revealed that he and his brother discovered the body of a neighbouring farmer hanging from his shed when they were younger, adding that another friend committed suicide when he was 18 years old.

He said: "When [we] were younger, we were out shooting stuff and dragging dead cattle, so you get very used to death.

"But it's definitely a different thing when you see a dead human, especially someone that you know and you looked up to and was a great person. However, you have to get over it and keep moving on."

The Farmer Wants a Wife's finale airs tonight at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
