The Australian former Olympic swimming champion, who was fired by boss Mark Bouris last week after falling out with teammate Jason Coleman, said that she began to fear for her health during the show after having heart surgery a few years ago.
Curry told New Idea magazine: "I had expected we would be treated nicely and I thought, 'I didn't sign up for this stress'. I thought my defibrillator was going to go off. I just kept telling myself, 'It's not about celebrity or ego, it's about raising money'.
"[I chose the Heart Foundation as] my charity because in 2008 I was rushed to intensive care to have an operation on my heart and have a defibrillator inserted. Going into surgery to have something screwed into [my] heart muscle was really scary.
"I am relieved [Celebrity Apprentice] is over. Even though we were allowed to go home on weekends, I did find it hard being away from my family."
The 49-year-old, who is currently dating 29-year-old musician Joel Walkenhorst, has previously said: "The show is stressful and fun all rolled into one. They work us hard, it's very long hours and you are working with people who you don't know.
"There's a lot of give and take. Sometimes more take with others than give."
