Nine Network confirms Sonia Kruger for Big Brother

Sonia Kruger has been hired by the Nine Network.

The Australian television presenter, who is best known for hosting Dancing with the Stars alongside Daniel MacPherson on the Seven Network, has now been officially named as the new host of a revamped Big Brother, following initial rumours last week.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, Kruger has also been recruited to take over a new morning show introduced to replace Kerri-Anne Kennerley's long-running breakfast series.



Confirming that Kruger signed a contract on Friday morning, a Nine source said: "Sonia will host Big Brother, but her main focus will be the morning show between 9 and 11am."

Despite Nine insiders insisting that Kennerley would be "looked after", she has claimed that she knew nothing about Kruger's takeover, saying: "I have heard nothing, but that's to be expected. It's a beautiful day outside and I'm off to play golf."

An unconfirmed male host will reportedly be hired soon to present the programme alongside Kruger. MacPherson has not been mentioned as a possibility, as a TV insider said that he "may head to Los Angeles early next year" with new girlfriend Zoe Ventoura.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte was recently named as a possible new presenter for Dancing with the Stars, with MacPherson admitting that she would be "great".
