The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, which are scheduled to take place in February 2012, will honour the best in the country's film and television.
Thriller The Hunter received 14 nominations, including 'Best Film', while its stars Willem Dafoe, Sam Neill, Frances O'Connor and Morgana Davies all received acting nods.
Also up for 'Best Film' are Red Dog, Mad Bastards, The Eye of the Storm, Oranges and Sunshine and murder movie Snowtown.
Snowtown received ten nominations including 'Best Direction' for Justin Kurzel, 'Best Actor' for Daniel Henshall, 'Best Original Music Score' and 'Best Cinematography'. Red Dog appeared in eight categories, while Oranges and Sunshine received seven nods.
In the television categories, The Slap and Cloudstreet dominated with eight nominations each. Paper Giants: The Story of Cleo and Sisters of War both made it into the 'Best Telefeature' group.
Asher Keddie, Essie Davis, Sarah Snook and Kerry Fox were all nominated for 'Best Lead Actress in a Television Drama', while Alex Dimitriades, Don Hany, Jonathan LaPaglia and Rob Carlton will fight it out for the 'Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama' gong.
