Former Yellow Wiggle Sam Moran has said goodbye to his fans via an internet video.

The former children's entertainer, who joined The Wiggles five years ago after Greg Page suffered from health problems, found out recently that he was being sacked to make way for Page's return.

Although it was initially reported that Moran was happy to step aside in order to spend more time with his family, it has since been claimed that he was "ostracised" from the group from the beginning.

In an interview with the lineup on Australian morning television yesterday (January 19), Wiggles member Anthony Page struggled to answer a question about whether Moran was shocked at being let go.

Moran said in his YouTube video: "I just wanted to send a message to all the children around the world who have sent me such wonderful messages - and some sad messages too saying how upset they are that I won't be the yellow Wiggle anymore.

"There will be another driver of the Big Red Car - it'll be Greg. He was the yellow Wiggle before I was the yellow Wiggle, and he will be again. I'll miss seeing your smiling faces from the stage, but I'm sure you'll see me singing, dancing and entertaining you in the future in another way, shape or form."

Moran was reportedly offered a payout of $60,000 (£40,000) from the multi-million dollar Wiggles franchise as a severance package when he was called into a meeting with the band's manager on his daughter's second birthday.

In The Wiggles' TV interview yesterday, Field said: "I haven't spoken to [Sam], I don't know [how he's feeling]. Maybe you'll have to talk to Sam to find out what he thinks. What Sam does now is Sam's thing."
